The Kogi Government on Tuesday began the distribution of palliatives to residents aimed at cushioning the effect of the recent petrol subsidy removal by the Federal Government.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports in Lokoja that Gov. Yahaya Bello personally inaugurated the distribution of rice and cash at the Lugard House, Lokoja.
Bello explained that the interventions are “state sponsored palliatives” meant to go across the state as response to concerns of the people, after the subsidy removal by government.
He disclosed that his administration has adopted ward-by-ward distribution system to ensure that every citizen irrespective of their political parties benefitted.
The governor directed every state appointee and other stakeholders to take a leave back to their respective wards in a bid to ensure efficiency in the sharing process.
“But let me sound a warning here, that I will expose any leader found culpable of short changing the people in the palliative sharing process.
“Again, this current palliative distribution will upon completion be followed by another tranch which will take another dimension.
“This is because this government intends to eventually bequeath such gesture to the next administration in addition to its physical infrastructural and socio-economic development plans for the state and its people.
“This palliative, just like the previous one, is meant for the entire citizenry which explains reason for directing those in charge not to discriminate along political party lines or any other divisive factor,” he said.
While intimating that the exercise will be closely monitored in a bid to ensure fairness, efficiency and effectiveness, Bello pointed out that the APC is a party that portrays compassion, honesty and frowns against liars, hence those in charge must show empathy, love and compassion to their people.
On the Nov. 11 governorship election, he called on the electorate to support the candidate of the APC, Usman Ododo, assuring that the consolidation government of the ruling party have greater plans for the state and its people. (NAN). READ ALSO:
