The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF) has consoled Gov. Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom over the death of his wife, Patience.
The forum, chaired by Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State expressed its consolation in a statement by its Director-General, Dr Emmanuel Agbo, in Abuja on Friday.
The forum also extended its condolences to the deceased’s family and the people of Akwa Ibom.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the wife of the Akwa-Ibom governor died in the early hours of Friday at the age of 57.
The forum described Patience as an exemplary Christian, a symbol of hope and selfless love that impacted countless lives.
It said that Akwa-Ibom, as a state, people and community, had lost a caring and purposeful mother, whose sudden demise was described as a rude shock.
“This is one sunset that calls for sober reflections on the essence of life.
“Pastor Patience was an exemplary Christian mother and wife who gave so much support to her husband, Gov. Eno.
“In their over 37 years of marriage, the mother of their six children and grandmom of nine grandchildren was inseparable from her husband; their love was limitless, and she meant all to him.
“Affectionately known as ‘Eka Iberedem Akwa Ibom’, which translated to ‘Mother and Strong Pillar of Akwa Ibom’, she was a symbol of hope and selfless love.
“Her efforts significantly impacted countless lives through her philanthropic vehicle – the Golden Initiative For All (GIFA), an organisation focused on humanitarian activities and addressing poverty within vulnerable populations and marginalised communities in Akwa Ibom,” said the forum.
The PDP governors said there was no doubt that death had robbed Eno of a confidant, an adviser, a prayer partner, a soulmate, an anchor and his number-one cheerleader.
“It has also stolen from all of us, the passion and compassion that she brought to bear in stabilising the ship of the state and the first family and friends.
“Happening at this point when the baton for steering the ship requires utmost stability and steadiness of hand, is nothing short of cruelty.
“It is heartbreaking that she is gone so soon, but in all, we must submit ourselves to the ultimate will of the Almighty God,” said the forum.
The forum prayed to God to grant Eno, his family and the people of Akwa Ibom, the comfort, fortitude and strength to endure the loss, as her soul rest eternally. (NAN).
