As the crisis rocking the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deepens by the day, its embattled national chairman, Bamanga Tukur has again, vowed never to resign.
Mr. Tukur held closed door meeting with Vice President Namadi Sambo on Wednesday. He told State House correspondents after the meeting that he was not perturbed by the call for his resignation by the aggrieved governors.
He insisted there was absolutely no basis to resign, even as he opined that the aggrieved governors, five of whom have now defected to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) would return to the ruling party.
“They even say that I am a virus. Yes, I agree that I am virus, but a virus for discipline; a virus for good governance, virus for positive change and virus for all things that are good.’
“Do you resign when you know that you are doing good things? Do you resign simply because a few people are angry that you are doing positive things and they are comfortable with such good things?” he queried.
“Even in your home, if your wife run away, you would always look for ways of talking to her hoping that she would see reason and return home,” Mr. Tukur said.
It will be recalled that seven aggrieved governors walked out of the Eagles Square venue of the ruling party’s special convention on August 31 to form a splinter group alongside some key PDP figures.
Recently, five of the governors namely: Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers), Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano), Muritala Nyako (Adamwa) and Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto) defected to APC.
