The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), Bashir Yusuf on Monday formally launched the party’s membership registration online.
The event which was held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua centre, Abuja, featured practical demonstration of how prospective member can register online without stress.
According to the chairman, with the online registration national officers can easily monitor the progress being made at the wards, local governments and states levels as far as membership registration is concerned from the national headquarters.
Reacting to question on the possibility of double registration, Mr. Yusuf said it would not be possible because the registration platform is designed in a way that it automatically deletes the first registration should a second attempt be made by the same person.
He also said provision has been made for those who may not have access to the internet, especially those who are based in the villages, saying they can register manually.
To ensure that the registration is not disjointed, the national chairman said the first person to register manually will take the membership number next to the one allocated to the person that registered last online.
Mr. Yuusf, who also performed a symbolic registration online, assured Nigerians that the party’s manifestoes that will be unveiled soon will take care of their interests.
PDM, a political platform established by the late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, was formally registered as a political party by the Independent National electoral Commission (INEC) exactly a month ago.
Meanwhile, prospective members have been asked to log on to www.pdm.ng to register online.
