The National President of the Parliament Staff Association of Nigeria, Fatai Jimoh has condemned the National Assembly branch of the association over non remittance of dues running to the tune of a hundred and fifty millionaires Naira.
Jimoh alleged that the national executive of the association had dissolved the National Assembly branch of the association before the latter dragged the former to court. However, upholding the decision of the national executives of PASAN, a Court Order was issued on 9th of September, 2014 by the National Industrial Court dislodging the prayer of the National Assembly Branch of the association, ordering it to maintain its status quo as authorized by its national executives of PASAN.
Speaking to the national president of PASAN, Jimoh on phone, he expressed dissatisfaction in the unguided manner and arrogance displayed by the National Assembly branch of the association led by Bawa Mohammed stating that if the impunity is not checked, an incalculable damage could be done as justice delayed is justice denied. Comrade Fatai said in accordance with 6(B) of PASAN constitution, 2011, all the branches remit check off dues and any branch that refuses to remit the dues can be dissolved.
However, Fatai said despite court order which backs the dissolving of the National Assembly branch of the association, the group led by Bawa Mohammed had defied court order, using one of his privy (Adam Abubalat) to convey an unauthorized meetings in Minna on 11th of September, 2014 and Abuja on 26th September 2014 parading themselves as genuine executives of the association. The group also made an appeal to the NICN to disperse justice because Nigerians & the international community are interested.
“They have failed to remit check off dues to the National body of PASAN; we dissolved them but they charged us to court in spite of their failure. The industrial court also seconded our resolution by dissolving them, yet they ignored the court order, and went to Minna and Abuja to hold a kangaroo meetings parading themselves as executives of PASAN calling for the removal of the national president of the association” Fatai said.
“PASAN doesn’t condole injustice among its members in the Assemblies across the nation, our commitment to fairness cannot be overemphasized, thus, we will ensure our members who have no regard for the laws guiding the association and the nation face due consequences. The group of kangaroo executives consisting of Bawa Mohammed (the leader of the group) Hadi Bala, Adam Abubakar, Hadiza Gamji Mohammed, and Labi Jatau Josaih calling for the removal of the national executives will face the court on 11 February, not only to give account of their unlawful plot against the senior body of the association but to also account for the one hundred and fifty million Naira dues not remitted by them” he added.
In a phone conversation with the Edo state chairman of PASAN, Comrade Sugaba Aliyu, he said Bawa Mohammed had refused to remit the check off dues which all branches of the association remits. “The matter is simply, all the branches remit check off dues, we in Edo remit to the national body; the refusal of Abuja branch to remit dues to national body is fraudulent. If other branches have been paying the dues, Abuja branch shouldn’t be excluded. They should submit to the authority of the national body and pay the dues” he stated.
All efforts to reach the leader of the PASAN faction, Bawa Mohammed proved abortive as his phone lines were unreachable. However, sources revealed that the leader of the faction and his followers might be sentenced to prison for embezzling dues to the tune of millions.
