Nigeria’s Favour Ofili has qualified for the women’s 200m semifinals at the 2024 Olympic Games.
The 21-year-old won heat 6 in a time of 22.23s, PNO Sports reports.
Ofili started strong and cruised to victory in 22.24s, despite easing up in the last few meters.
Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith finished second in 22.28s, while Gina Bass-Bittaye came third in 22.84s.
Only USA’s Gabby Thomas (22.20s) ran faster than Ofili in the six heats.
Another Nigerian Sade Olatoye competed in Group B of women’s Hammer Throw, finishing 14th with a mark of 66.41m.
It was Olatoye’s maiden appearance at the Olympics.
