Nigeria’s D’Tigress confirmed their place in quarter-finals at the ongoing 2024 Olympic Games after a hard-earned 79-70 victory over Canada.
Rena Wakama’s side have now defeated world number three and five at the ongoing games.
It’s the first time D’Tigress have qualified for the last eight in the history of the Olympics.
The West Africans started the game on the front foot and had a 10-point lead at some point but allowed the Canadians back into the game.
The two teams could not be separated at the end of the first quarter, sharing spoils 18-18.
D’Tigress went into the break still very much in the game, trailing their opponents by only four points (41-37).
The African champions rallied in the third quarter to lead 55-46.
D’Tigress maintained the same tempo in the last quarter coasting home to 79-70 victory. READ ALSO:
