Adamawa State Executive Council has approved the release of N420million for the purchase of ten units of 72-seater shuttle buses for students as part of palliatives to cushion the effect of petrol subsidy removal.
Mrs Neido Geoffrey-Kafulto, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy made the disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Yola.
She said that the initiative was part of the recent state executive council resolutions aimed at providing succour to the students.
“The approval for the emergency procurement of the buses was to cushion the effect of subsidy removal on students in the state” She said.
Geoffrey-Kafulto said that the buses were expected to be supplied within seven days.
The Commissioner further explained the buses would be used to convey students to and from schools within Yola metropolis to ease transportation.
“The decision was borne out of the successes recorded by Fresh Air Transportation initiative reeled out to offer cheaper and affordable transportation to the residents.
She said Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri administration would continue to promote the welfare of the indigents of the state through delivery of social services.(NAN). READ ALSO:
