IBADAN – Oyo State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, has raised the alarm over what it described as “nefarious activities of some impostors who are disguising as SWAN members and defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.
A statement signed by Oyo SWAN secretary, Adewale Tijani reads, “All the executives of Oyo state chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) hereby disassociate ourselves from the illicit and fraudulent activities of these impostors.
“We also unequivocally declare that these fraudsters are not members of our Association and therefore have no mandate to transact any business on behalf of Oyo SWAN.
“We therefore advise members of the public to verify properly the identity of any unknown personality who claims to be a SWAN member, by contacting Oyo SWAN leadership before having any dealing with such person.
“This is very necessary to avoid falling victim to these fraudsters who use the name of SWAN to dupe people.
“Oyo SWAN further warn these impostors to desist from their criminal acts or else be ready to face the wrath of the law when caught.”
