The Attorney-General of Oyo State, Mr Abiodun Aikomo, on Monday in Ibadan said the judiciary in the state would soon have eight more judges filling existing vacancies.
Aikomo disclosed this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sideline of the Law Week celebration by the Ibadan Branch of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
He said recruitment into the state judiciary was ongoing and eight judges would resume as soon as the recruitment was completed.
The Attorney-General further said there would be subsequent appointment in the state judiciary as the need arose.
“We are expecting some feedback from the Nigerian Judicial Council (NJC) and as soon as we get the feedback the new judges will resume,” he said.
Aikomo also said the government of Gov. Seyi Makinde was committed to the rule of law in the state.
He said his role as the Attorney-General of the state was to ensure the observance of rule of law at all times in the state.
“The government of which I am part of is committed to the rule of law and we will ensure observance of the rule of law and as well ensure the judiciary in the state functions independently,” Aikomo said.(NAN). READ ALSO:
