The North West zonal leadership of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has hailed the “exemplary and effective” leadership provided by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo in the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking in his opening remarks during the North West APC leadership meeting ,Saturday in Gusau, Mallam Inuwa Abdulkadir (Magatakarda Babba), National Vice-Chairman (North West) said: “This is an appropriate moment to recognize and highlight the exemplary and effective manner that His Excellency Vice President Osinbajo has smoothly and successfully stepped in to maintain the tempo and direction of governance as Acting President in the unavoidable absence of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“The Acting President has marshaled the team spirit and high morale of the Presidency and the Federal Executive Council to ensure that the machinery of government remains geared towards delivering good governance in the national interest. This is an attestation not only to the competence and capacity of the Vice President to provide needed leadership but also a demonstration of the dependability and stability of the Presidency under APC. There is no doubt that the performance of the Acting President must have given President Buhari additional peace of mind while on leave.
“On behalf of the North West Zonal Leadership of the APC, I hereby commend the Acting President for taking up the national assignment with impressive maturity, statesmanship and conviction to the satisfaction of all Nigerians. This is precisely the role every member of the APC, leader and supporter at all levels of the party should be playing as needful contribution to the success and progress of the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration and ultimately the restoration of sanity and good governance in Nigeria.
Asks Members To Steer clear of ‘Cliques and Cabals’
The North West Zonal Vice Chairman also asked party members to steer clear of those he described as the cliques and cabals of politicians.
He said, “The attainment of the noble cause of President Buhari through the vibrant party machinery of the APC can never be secondary to the private political or clique agenda issues that unfortunately divide and destabilize our great party in some states. The APC is a mass movement with an established and well defined manifesto/ideology, constitution and structures for meeting the aspirations and delivering dividends to the vast majority of members and Nigerian citizens who voted it into power. There is no room for personality posturing to pursue ambitious agenda that conflicts with or competes against the overall party interest. On the other hand, unalloyed loyalty to the party and expressed support of the stakeholders and majority party membership is the only due process for realizing any genuine ambition flying the APC flag. Always demonstrate loyalty and commitment to the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration and the APC leadership at all level and steer clear of cliques and cabals of politicians who place their ambitions above party interest.
