Imo state governor Hope Odidika Uzodinma has restated his earlier pledge that the state government remains steadfast in its support and and continued commitment to Heartland Football Club’s growth and development.
This is even as he has told the club that as the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) progresses, he will encourage the team to build on its current performance and aim for even greater success in the weeks ahead.
Uzodinma who led some top government officials and aides to support the state-owned Heartland FC in the weekend’s thrilling Oriental Derby against Enugu Rangers FC at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, spoke to journalists after the league match which ended in a barren draw.
Said he: “Heartland FC deserves special commendation for their spirited performance. The players demonstrated determination and teamwork, showcasing their ability to compete at the highest level.
“I also extend my appreciation to the Technical Team (led by Emmanuel Amuneke) for their strategic guidance, which was evident throughout the match.
“As the league progresses, I encourage Heartland FC to build on this performance and aim for even greater success.
The State remains steadfast in its support, and I assure the team of our continued commitment to their growth and development”.
The Saturday’s match which attracted a sizeable number of football fans from Enugu, Aba, Onitsha and host city Owerri, highlighted the exceptional skills, discipline, and tactical strength of both teams.
Although Amuneke’s Heartland failed in their quest to change their winless run against Rangers in the Southeast derby, the Super Eagles legend has maintained his impressive unbeaten run which has extended to five matches in a row.
Only Rangers coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has achieved this in the NPFL in the season the Flying Antelopes won the trophy.
