A group in Akoko area of Ondo State, the Akoko Special Committee, headed by a former Deputy Governor of the State, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, on Thursday said that it has not endorsed any of the aspirants from its area jostling for the governorship tickets of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as its preferred choice.
The ASC, in a statement signed by Alhaji Olanusi, specifically said that it has neither endorsed Senator Ajayi Boroffice nor any of the governorship aspirants from Akokoland as its preferred choice for the exalted office.
The former deputy governor explained that the ASC had already met with all aspirants on Sunday 31st July, 2016 in his residence.
According to him, “All the aspirants attended the meeting with the exception of Prof. Boroffice and Dr. Segun Abraham who sent their apologies for absence.
“Myself and other members of the committee in attendance addressed the seven (7) aspirants present and admonished them to go and discuss among themselves and present to us a single worthy candidate who would fly the flag of Akoko. That is the process so far as the committee is concerned.
“The outcome of the aspirants meeting is what we intend to present to the larger assembly”, he said.
The former Deputy-Governor made it clear that the claim that Professor Boroffice has been endorsed by the Akoko Elders and Leaders was entirely false.
He strongly appealed to the people of Akokoland, especially the elite, to learn to imbibe the culture of truth at all times as truth exalts a nation.
According to him, “I wish to strongly appeal to all Akoko leaders and Elders to eschew bitterness and divisive tendencies as such can only lead to further backwardness for Akokoland.
“We must at this critical time, pick a responsible and sellable aspirant who will be able to impact positively on the entire state. Inordinate propaganda and underhand actions are inimical to progress”, he said.
The seven APC governorship aspirants from the Akokoland are; Hon Victor Olabimtan,
Prof. Boroffice Ajayi, Dr. Segun Abraham, Hon. Gani Dauda, Mr. Mayowa Adefemi, Alhaji Jamiu Olatunji and Dr. Tunji Abayomi.
