Ondo state Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has commended the wife of the Governor, Mrs Betty-Anyanwu Akeredolu, for her life-transforming programmes aimed at empowering the women and girl child across 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
Aiyedatiwa gave the commendation at the opening ceremony of this year’s BEMORE and the summer tennis camp held at the public service training institute (PSTI) on Monday in Ilara-Mokin, Ifedore Local Government.
The BEMORE programme and summer tennis camp for young girls which is in its forth edition founded by the wife of the Governor to support and empowering young girls in the state.
The deputy Governor,who thanked the wife of the governor for the initiative stressed that the programmes have helped to develop women and girls in the state and beyond.
Aiyedatiwa congratulated the participants in the initiative and urged them to take the programme seriously for their self development and benefit.
He appealed to those who are yet to support the programme to join hands with the Mrs Akeredolu to further expand the horizon of the initiative.
In her opening speech, Mrs Akeredolu said the initiative was aimed at developing the girl child in ICT, sports and also educate them on getting the required skills.
Chairman of the occasion, Mr Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, Member, House of Representatives, representing Akoko North West and East constituencies, lauded the strides of the wife of the Governor for initiating the programmes for the development of the girl child.
Former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Mrs Lola Fagbemi, also lauded Mrs Akeredolu for the initiative and enjoined the girls to make good use of the programme.
