Ondo State Acting Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa earlier on Saturday morning visited areas affected by flood in Akure, the State capital, to sympathize with victims and carry on-the-spot assessment for possible intervention.
The torrential downpour which started on Friday night lasted till several hours of Saturday degenerated into flood that affected several areas in the state capital.
Some of the areas visited are, Irese-Ijare Bridge, Aye Community in Irese, Ala River at Aiyedun Quarters, Akure High School axis and Ala River at Araromi Road, all in Akure.
Aiyedatiwa enjoined residents to avoid dumping waste into drains, steams or rivers and patronize the State Waste Management Authority and the Private Sector Participants.
He appealed to residents to always embrace good environmental habits saying government was taking steps to contain flooding in the State .
On the Acting Governor’s entourage were, House of Assembly member representing Akure South Constituency 2, Hon Oluwarotimi Abitogun, Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Hon Gbenga Olaniyi, Chairman/CEO ZL Global, Dr Abiola Bashorun , Secretary, Ondo State Emergency Management Agency ( OSEMA ), Mr Femi Obideyi and others.
