The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, on Friday, again promoted a new set of chiefs comprising four senior Chiefs and one junior Chief in the Ibadan Balogun line.
The traditional rites, which took place at the new Olubadan palace, Oke Aremo, in the Ibadan North Local Government Area of the state, were performed by the Oluwo of Ibadanland, Chief Wahab Popoola Labosinde, who decorated the elevated Chiefs with traditional Akoko leaves.
Those who stepped up the Olubadan ladder at the event were Senior Chief Adegboyega Adeniran, who was elevated from Ekefa Balogun to Abese Balogun; Senior Chief Taiwo Oyekan (absent) who was promoted from Agbaakin Balogun to Maye Balogun; Senior Chief Raufu Eleruwere, who climbed the ladder from Aare Alaasa Balogun to Ekefa Balogun; Senior Chief Emiola Onideure who advanced from Ikolaba Balogun to Agbaakin Balogun and Chief Tirimisiyu Obisesan (absent) who rose from Asaaju Balogun to Aare Alaasa Balogun.
Olubadan congratulated the new chiefs on their elevation and urged them to use their rise in position to progress, unite, and develop Ibadanland, the state, and Nigeria at large.
He further charged them with rededicating their lives to preserve the Yoruba culture and improve the quality of life of residents and indigenes of Ibadanland in general.
Dignitaries at the event were members of the Olubadan-In-Council, among whom were the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja; Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole-Foko; Osi Balogun, High Chief Olubunmi Isioye-Dada; Asipa Olubadan, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi; Ekerin Olubadan, Oba Amidu Ajibade; Ekerin Balogun, High Chief Akeem Adewoyin and Ekaarun Balogun, High Chief (Senator) Sharafadeen Alli.
