Rapper Chukwu Onyemauchechukwu Elijah popularly known as UC Flamez has revealed that getting on the top of the Olamide’s Who You Epp contest opened more doors for him as a rapper and he is surely taking advantage of that to be a better artiste.
The stylish rapper who has also won other rap battles said, things used to be like a joke for him until he found himself in the top 10 list with all the raves.
“I got in because I wanted to win, but when I learnt there are more than a thousand other rappers in the contest and you are entering from as far as Owerri, you just have to give up because of the Nigerian factor.
“I was surprised when I was contacted and I have to thank Olamide and the entire panel of judges for the honesty they exhibited because, being the only Igbo rapper in the 10 man list is a wonderful thing”, he said.
The Ahiazu Mbaise, Imo State, born rapper further added that since the competition ended last year, he has been attending events around the country and it is just like living the dream he has always wanted.
Having recently released the single ‘Akwakuma’, which he dedicated to the town in Owerri, where he first lived in Owerri before moving to school.
“Akwakuma holds a special place in my heart and it deserves the song. I did it to show the love and struggles in the town as well as what every normal human being in the city is facing daily.
“The song just dropped so we are still promoting to see where it will be getting to, but I believe that in as much as it is not the usual rap people see every day, it is still attracting lots of attentions at the moment”, he concluded.
