Freedom has again come the way of the former Presidential Spokesman, Dr. Doyin Okupe as the Department of State Service (DSS) has issued a clarification on the recent re-arrest of the immediate past Director General of the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Council.
Prompt News reports that one of Okupe’s aides who plead anonymity confirmed that his principal who was reported to have been arrested by Nigeria’s secret police on his way to London for a medical treatment has since been cleared and let go.
According to the aide, the agency has clarified that Okupe has been released as they said they do not know that he has been cleared by a sister agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) who had earlier took the medical doctor turned politician to court.
But Okupe who was found guilty and fined for making innocent mistakes in financial transactions has since paid the option of fine and supposed to be a free man in the eyes of the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Okupe is said to be making alternative arrangement to catch another flight to UK having missed the earlier flight he was to travel with before he was picked by the secret police.
