Nigeria’s queen of the track Blessing Okagbare has set a new All Nigerian Athletics Championship record of a time 11:02 seconds in the Championship concluded weekend at the Sapele Township Stadium, ,Delta State.
Okagbare who missed last year Championship held in Warri competing in front of her home fans beat Peace Ukoh who came with a time of 11:37 second while last year winner,Gloria Asunmu placed 3rd with a time of 11:38 seconds.
In an interview at the end of the race, Okagbare said that she is appy running at her home town, Sapele because according to her, “this is where I started my athletic career.
The Sapele born Athlete expressed confidence in making impact at the Rio Olympic s going by her performance so far this season.
Also, Antwon Hicks, an Amrican born Athlete who claimed to come from Delta State through her grandparents sets a new national record of 13:26 seconds in the 110m hurdles breaking the existing record of 13:42 seconds set by William Erese in the United States in 2003.
The winning time also qualified Hicks to compete in the Rio Olympics in August, 2016.
