The Ogun State Primary Healthcare Development Board will on Thursday begin the 2017/2018 Measles Vaccination Campaign (MVC) targeting children ages nine to 59 months.
The Commissioner for Health in Ogun, Dr Babatunde Ipaye, made this known on Wednesday in Abeokuta.
Ipaye said that the ceremony would be flagged off by Gov. Ibikunle Amosun at Ijebu East Central Local Council Development Area Secretariat.
According to him, the programme will run from March 1 to March 13.
The commissioner said that the campaign, in collaboration with partners, would take place in all the Primary Health Centres across the state.
He said that other designated places for the campaign were schools, religious houses, market places and motor parks.
Ipaye enjoined parents and guardians to come out enmasse to get their children and wards between nine and 59 months vaccinated.
The commissioner described the vaccine as safe, free and effective.
Ipaye said that the vaccination card issued during the immunisation should be kept for future survey by health officials.
