Following the sentencing of Offa bank robbery convicts to death, the Offa community is asking the police to investigate those who allegedly provided logistics for the robbers.
The community is also asking the state government to revisit the incident through holistic probing of all the factors, notions and personalities to remove the impression that the investigation by the police was inconclusive.
Addressing a press conference on behalf of the community, the chairman of the home branch of Offa Descendants Union, Tajudeen Shittu said the community is not satisfied with the way the police investigated the April 5th, 2018 Offa bank robbery.
Specifically, he asked the police to revisit the confessional statements of the robbers, and fish out those who supplied them vehicles and weapons.
Justice Haleema Salman of the Kwara State High Court, Ilorin, last Thursday sentenced the five suspects to death by hanging.
They were found guilty of illegal possession of firearms, armed robbery and culpable homicide punishable by death.
It took six years before the case could be determined, however, the defence expressed interest in appealing the judgement. (Channels TV)
