The Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS) has lauded Sam Maris University, Supare-Akoko as a fledgling institution, and described the Leadership as exemplary.
The Revenue Service gave the applause on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the Institution by its representatives led by the Oka-Akoko Tax Station Manager, Mr. Frank Akinkuotu.
Akinkuotu who lauded the developmental strides of SMU on behalf of ODIRS, noted that his visit as a forerunner of ODIRS Management Team, was geared towards fostering organizational relationship and sensitization on the position of Ondo State Government on the payment of taxes, land use charge and development levy amongst other things.
He said, “I commend the Management of Sam Maris University over the robust take off of the Institution and commitment to the ideals of the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service. We, on behalf of ODIRS, take great pleasure in expressing our profound appreciation to the Leadership of Sam Maris University for your pacesetter approach, and demonstrable commitment to strict compliance with the provisions of the Tax Law.”
“As staunch advocates for educational advancement, we have closely observed the University’s trajectory since inception. We are delighted to note the robust take off of the Institution. We are also pleased that Management is steering the ship in the right direction devoid of tax encumbrances, towards attaining the goal of the University.”
“We are seizing this opportunity to state that adherence to accurate deductions and timeous remittances of tax help Government in the execution of its projects, and infrastructural development of the State for the general well-being of its citizenry”.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of Sam Maris University, Prof. Francis Gbore acknowledged the commendable feats of ODIRS under the leadership of its Chairman, Mr. Tolu Adegbie. READ ALSO:

Gbore urged the Revenue Service to sustain its corporate social responsibility to regular tax payers, as the gesture will continue to serve as a motivational factor to the tax payers, and also as an encouragement for tax defaulters to rise up to fulfilling their obligations to the State.
In conclusion, the pioneer VC, thanked the representatives for the visit and for their complimentary remarks about the citadel of learning, SMU. He assured the representatives that Sam Maris University would subscribe to policies and initiatives of the ODIRS.
