Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday applauded the various achievements recorded so far by Rivers State Governor Rotimi Chubuike Amaechi.
Obasanjo, said he was against his ambition to become the governor in 2007 because of his K-leg but told the audience that his “K-leg has now been straightened”.
The former President was on a working visit to the state where he commissioned various developmental projects including the Nne Furo Model Secondary School, Eleme, in Eleme Local government Area of Rivers State.
He also used the occasion to counsel political office holders not to cover the achievements of their predecessors so as to eb able to concentrate on leaving behind good legacies.
His words, “Never use your hand and time to cover the achievements of your predecessors because you will not have time and hand to achieve your own.
“Where there is amendment, amend and where there is a mistake, correct. Don’t say anything against your predecessor. When I want to take any decision, I fast and pray before taking the decision”.
Speaking earlier, Governor Amaechi said he decided to invite the former Presidents to commission the projects because of Obasanjo’s principled stand for “calling a spade, a spade”.
He therefore, thanked him for honoring the invitation, adding “If I didn’t do well, he will say it in public, and if we have done well, he will say it as it is.”
