By Gracious Akujobi Kaduna State Commissioner of youth and sports, Bashir Birnin-Gwari, is optimistic that his athletes will excel in the ongoing National Youth Games in Abuja, the first of its kind.
He also commended the initiatives of the leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC) in introducing the games.
The Commissioner told Prompt News Online, “I give God thanks for the opportunity to send our athletes to Abuja to represent us in these noble games.
“Our expectation from the athletes is to first of all be good ambassadors for the state and to do all in their power to make sure they make the state proud by winning their individual and collective events”.
He says his confidence stems from the quality of the athletes representing the state at the games, saying that the importance of sports cannot be over emphasized as it brings all Nigerians together in unity and harmony.
“Kaduna state is always a leading state in sports in Nigeria. We will continue to prove that even with this youth games because at the end of the games, I am sure Kaduna state athletes will be the best and Nigeria will be proud of them” he confidently stated.
