The police have confirmed 12 people dead and 19 injured in Thursday night bomb explosion at Nyanya, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Frank Mba, Force Public Relations Officer confirmed this to newsmen, saying those injured have been taken to the hospital.
He however said the casualties figure is provisional, adding that investigation has commenced into the explosion.
Earlier, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) confirmed nine people dead and 11 injured.
According to Emmanuel Okeh, Head of Public Relations at NSCDC, “Security agencies have condoned the area of an explosion this evening in Nyanya Abuja, response agencies have moved injured victims to hospitals and at least Nine (9) lifeless bodies have been deposited in the mortuary while 11 unconscious victims are receiving medical attention in different hospitals in Abuja.
“The public are urged to cooperate with security agencies and avoid rushing to the scene to guard against hampering the efforts of the various agencies working together to ensure public safety”.
Barely two weeks ago, there was a bomb blast at a bus terminus, Nyanya, killing no fewer than 75 people and left more than 200 injured.
