Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Oyo State Command, has seized 64 bags of marijuana and six motorcycles at Ofiki River in Igbo Igbaye area of Igboora, Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of the state.This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Corps Public Relations Officers, Oluwole Olusegun and made available to newsmen on Friday in Ibadan.Oluwole said the items were seized on Thursday night by the Agro Ranger Squad of the command, while all the suspects took to their heels on sighting the officers.He said the suspects, who were still at large, brought in the drugs through the forest from Cotonou, Benin Republic and were heading to Mologede, near Abeokuta in Ogun.“The state NSCDC Commandant , Iskilu Akinsanya said that the Agro Ranger squad that specialised in raid and assault mission, including mediation on farmers Herder crisis worked on credible intelligence information to discover the exhibits,” Oluwole said.He quoted Akinsanya, while handing over the marijuana to the NDLEA in the state, as warning all criminal elements that the state was not home for crimes and criminality.According to him, the commandant enjoined criminals in the state to vacate the state or be ready to face the consequences.He said that Akinsanya commended the people of Ibarapa Central for supporting the Agro Ranger squad and solicited for more collaboration in order to nip crime in the bud.Oluwole quoted the commandant as encouraging the people of Oyo State to obey government’s directive on COVID-19 pandemic by staying safe with good hygiene, while also maintaining social distancing.The commandant, according to the statement, said NSCDC and other sister agencies would ensure total enforcement and compliance with the state government directives on curfew, among others.He directed all his personnel to exercise their duty with a human face and within the ambits of the law.
