The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, says it has resolved 165 cases of child abuses, sexual harassment and attempted rape in the last six months.The NSCDC state Commandant, Iskilu Akinsanya, made this known in a statement signed bythe state NSCDC spokesman, Oluwole Olusegun, on Tuesday in Ibadan.Akinsanya said that the other cases resolved included child neglect, assault, child labour, physical assault, wife absconding with children, disobedience and trafficking.The Commandant said that the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit of the command was currently prosecuting three defilement cases at the state Magistrates’ Court.He said that one of the cases was that of a 41-year-old Effiom Etowa, who allegedly defiled his three- year-old daughter.Akinsanya said the other two involved one Morufu Amusat, 38 years, and Akanmu Michael 52, who were charged with allegedly defiling minors.He said that the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit, in conjunction with the newly established gender unit of the command had resolved the 165 cases in the course of the year. “The unit has been working in conjunction with the Ministry of Women affairs, sexual and gender-based violence response team and Rapid Response team both in Oyo state Ministry of Women Affairs and Ministry of Justice,” he said.The NSCDC commandant frowned at issues of rape, defilement, incest and all general abuse on child and female gender. “Anybody caught in the act of molesting or rape will face full wrath of the law.“Parents and guardians should monitor their children and wards.“Especially, women should randomly check on this children,” the commandant said.Akinsanya, however, warned cultist and other criminal element in the state to relocate, saying that NSCDC and other sister agencies in Oyo State would deal with anybody that wanted to distrupt the peace being enjoyed by the people of the state.He also cautioned the people of the state against dumping of refuse or building along the water way.
