The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Cooperative Investment and Credit Society, on Friday distributed 170 motorcycles to ease mobility of it’s members in Kaduna state.
The Chairman of the cooperative, Sunday Haruna, said while distributing the motorcycles in Kaduna that it was in response to several requests by members.
He said that the cooperative management which was inaugurated on January 20, was determined to respond to the welfare needs of members in line with its mandate.
The chairman urged the beneficiaries to make best use of the motorcycles to make life more comfortable for themselves and enhance their duty.
According to him, the cooperative had earlier disbursed funds for its shop and granted facilities to offset school fees and rent to those in need.
The NSCDC State Commandant, Nurraddeen Abdullahi, commended the initiative and urged the beneficiaries to use the motorcycles for the purposes they were acquired.
Abdullahi who is also the patron of the cooperative, was represented by his deputy, Aloysius Nnegha.
He reiterated the desire of the corps to improve the welfare of officers and men to enhance their performance.
A beneficiary, Wakili Ibrahim, expressed delight with the gesture, saying it would enable him to be more punctual in carrying out his duties.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the beneficiaries are expected to repay the loan in two years at less than 10 per cent interest rate.(NAN)
