He also lamented against sharp practices in the system saying’ the metering and billing system are grossly inadequate and faulty blaming the incumbent on government for the inappropriate implementation and
co-ordination of initiatives that should have projected different economic policies and investors into the country.
The presidential flag bearer while explaining a point said’
declaration of state of emergency in the power sector, and
re-introduction of clean and renewable energy to provide and meet short term demand for cluster industries and communities remains the best way to go’.
To address most of the lapses in the power sector, the party presidential flag bearer further disclosed’ we shall ensure that metering system implementation across Nigeria to regulate estimated billing is put in place adding, ‘we shall also establish a presidential task force across Nigeria to articulate how our government will address the problem of inadequate and unrealizable electricity services’.
The flag bearer also lamented that despite Nigeria claims of being the most populous African nations still rely on outdated legislation networks which are old and dilapidated in the 21st century.
He blame the continued black out and regular power outage on lack of political will to affect the desires of Nigerians specially as it relates to investment and general economy.
Another action plan of the presidential aspirant is that of
declaration of ban on all utilization of generators in public offices, institutions, ministries and agencies including Aso Villa except Hospital in critical emergency services.
To further curb corruption in the system, Usman Alhaji promised to establish electricity council which will ensure proper coordination and development planning of the industry, adding that the council under his government will champion effective and timely development plan
starting with a-100-day plan based on Mr President-elect’s promise of tackling the perennial problem of electricity supply in the country.
In an interview, the NRM Presidential hopeful said liberalization of transmission sector to credible investors will do away with transmission bureau –pathologists or forces of darkness maintaining that accurate implementation of tertiary education and health
institutions policy on independent electricity project is the best way to go.
