Chairman, Interim Management Committee (IMC), Gbenga Elegbeleye has warned clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) to shun violence in the upcoming season, reports Prompt News.
Elegbeleye stated that erring clubs will forfeit three points.
The standard practice in the past was for clubs to be fined N500,000 for unruly behavior of their players, officials and fans.
But Elegbeleye hinted that the IMC has adopted a stiffer penalty ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
“Any club that engages in violent conduct will not be sanctioned with N500,000.00 as was the case in the past, but three points will be deducted as punishment”, Elegbeleye told reporters in Abuja.
The 2022/23 NPFL season will kick-off on January 8 with matches across the 10 different centres.
