Rangers International FC of Enugu, on Monday, forced Kwara United FC of Ilorin to a 1-1 draw on match day 8 of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the match was played at the Kwara Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
The visitors started the match brilliantly, calling goalkeeper Nurudeen Badmus of Kwara United to action on several occasions in the early minutes of the encounter.
Rangers looked a better side for the day, caging striker Wasiu Alalade, who struggled to get supply for most part of the first 45 minutes.
The home side rearranged its formation with Shola Abdulraheem pushed further into the third half of the pitch to support Alalade, a decision that paid off in the 43rd minute, when the young midfielder (Abdulraheem) put the hosts ahead after a fine team play.
However, the lead only lasted for some few seconds as Kingsley Maduforo’s spectacular bicycle kick pegged the hosts back before the break.
Kwara United restarted the other half better than the visitors but Rangers later gained control of the match after some couple of changes in the midfield to reduce the hosts’ threats.
The visitors looked happy with the result at the end of the match, while Kwara United players groaned in pain with many of them looking crestfallen. (NAN).
