A group under the aegis of United Sports Stakeholders (USS), says it has uncovered plans by the incumbent President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee NOC, Engr. Habu Gumel to disqualify some candidates in the NOC’s election billed for Jalingo, Taraba state next week.
A statement from the spokesman of the group, Comrade Sylvanus Ofekun on Thursday noted that Engr. Gumel had perfected plans to return without any challenge before constituting the electoral committee.
The statement added that “upon discovering that he will be facing several oppositions in Taraba state, the septuagenarian has now perfected plans to disqualify some leading aspirants; as he is now mounting pressure on the electoral committee to disqualify some of the leading candidates,” The group alleges.
The group says that it has petitioned relevant government agencies about the old fox tactics being employed by the outgoing NOC President.
Meanwhile, the group says “it will seek legal help in order to retire the man who has grounded sports in Nigeria,” the statement added.
