Expectedly, United States of America (USA) sprint sensation, Noah Lyles has been crowned the fastest man in the world at the Stade de France in Paris on Sunday night.
The American edges Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson in a photo finish to the men’s 100m race.
In the lead up to the final, Lyles had talked up his chances of winning gold and boasted how he’d be the sprinter to bring “main character energy” to the race.
True to his word, he has surely brought it and shown his character as an Olympic gold medallist by surging to the lead in the dying seconds of the race.
However, Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson finished second to pick silver medal while another USA sprinter, Fred Kerley came third to win bronze in a race that all the eight runners finished under 9. seconds.
Meanwhile, after surprising the world with his gold medal performance in the 100m during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Italian sprinter and defending champion,
Lamont Marcell Jacobs fails to make his mark in Paris.
He finished in the fifth spot, despite running a rapid time of 9.85 as all the sprinters ran under 9.92 in electric final.
