The management of the Nationwide League One (NLO) has urged all it clubs especially from the north and the general public to beware of a faceless group which call itself, “Nationwide League One Football Clubs Forum Northern Zone” says the group is out to defraud the clubs.
The group which has been writing petitions against the secretariat of the NLO has three members who had been signing all it mischievous letters, and they include; one Murtala Sambo, Salisu Ibrahim and Baba Ali Lokoja, claiming to be representing the North East, West and Central respectively.
Mr. Shola Ogunnowo, Executive Secretary of the NLO said the secretariat has discovered some fake insurance documents issued to clubs in the same region over the years which had made it impossible for families of players who died or got permanent injury while playing for their clubs to be compensated.
He said this group of persons are the ones who are going about writing all sort of letters against the secretariat because with the latest online registration they will be no way they can extort money from the clubs again as all money including that of insurance would be paid at once and directly to the secretariat.
“We want to inform the public and all the clubs in the NLO that the faceless group mentioned above is a self-seeking one with obnoxious intention to defraud unsuspected club owners, thereby distorting our plans of developing the league to international standard.
“We have reported them to the NFF and a disciplinary panel will be setup to look onto their activities and bring them to book.” Executive Secretary of the NLO maintained.
However, Mr. Ogunnowo has urged the registered clubs for the 2016 season to visit the website and commence registration of their players online, adding that the domain has been open.
Meanwhile, he maintained that the secretariat will not extend any date for those that have not register.
