The Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) Zaria, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah has reiterated that the policy thrust of his leadership is to make Nigerians feel the socio-economic impact of the Institutes’ existence.
He stated this while inspecting the NITT Outreach Learning Center/ Annex recently in Dawakin Kudu, Kano state.
“NITT’s impact is visible as our mandate is to provide training to Nigerians working in the transport and logistics industry. We have trained thousands in this regard and I am proud to say that many transport organisations across the country have our trainees in various positions”, he stated.
Dr. Bayero, who led a 6-man team on the inspection tour pointed out that the project was strategically cited in Dawakin Kudu so that grassroot youth in Kano, Jigawa and surrounding states can take full advantage of the opportunity the world-class center offers to learn basic skills of maintaining transport infrastructure and equipment.
According to him, the tour was part of efforts to reposition NITT by keeping Nigerians abreast of developments in each of the learning centers spread across different parts of the country.
The NITT helmsman expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done at the Centre, noting that the institute had undertaken several research programs for the Kano Sate Government, most of which he said had impacted positively on transport policy in the State.
He was taken round the facility by the NITT Kano Liaison Officer, Mallam Mustapha Ismaila, who had earlier highlighted the activities of the Center as well as its challenges.
