By Dare Lasisi, Glasgow, Scotland The Nigerian High Commission in the United Kingdom has ruled out the possibility of opening a Consular Office in Scotland for now.
According to the Acting High Commissioner Olukunle Bamgbose, it does not make economic sense to send officers to Scotland to renew passport or process visas for less than 50 people.
Speaking at a Town Hall meeting in Glasgow on Saturday, the Envoy stressed “It is not economically viable to send officers from High Commission in London to come and process passports for less than 50 applicants in Scotland.
“But, if we have close to 250 passport applicants then we can send our officials to capture their photographs for passports.”
Bamgbose further stated that another option for passport applicants is to travel to Nigeria if they can’t travel to London from Scotland.
Over the years, Nigerians in Scotland have been lamenting the stress of travelling to London to renew passport and for visa collection.
