By Gracious Akujobi National Chairman of Youth Initiative for Empowerment and Transparence in Leadership (YIET), Ambassador Fanny Amun has warned former public office holders to mind their utterances and actions which are capable of causing anarchy and disunity on the road to 2015.
He says those who believe that Nigeria will collapse if President Goodluck Jonathan declares to contest the 2015 election should wake up to the reality on ground as Nigeria is an indivisible entity.
Amun, who addressed a press conference on Wednesday in Abuja, said since the country is contending with the Islamist insurgents, Boko Haram, all hands must be on deck to contain terrorism before the next general elections.
His words, “We have insurgents such as the Boko Haram that we are currently contending with as a nation. To add to this with our frightening comments and criticism of the President who is doing so much to reposition the country would be asking for too much.
“Those who believe that these insurgents will bring this country down or that it is a sign of a sinking nation should have a rethink because, Nigeria is developing and will survive the onslaught of the enemies of progress.’’
The former Super Eagles and Golden Eaglets Coach said nothing will happen if President Goodluck Jonathan declares his intention to run for the 2015 election.
According to YIET Chairman, “If you do not want Jonathan to become the President of this country, there are ways of doing it, you vote him out in 2015 rather than making statement capable of causing disunity in the country.
“If you say that if Jonathan contest in 2015 there will be anarchy, we the youths are saying no to anarchy. We want Jonathan to contest and heaven will not fall’’.
Amun, however threatened that Nigerian youths would embark on hunger strike should President Jonathan refused to contest the 2015 election.
He said YIET abhors violence and crime and would want Nigerian youths to shun politicians and former public office holders who are calling for violent, saying they are enemies of the nation.
