After suffering a narrow one nil defeat in the hands of Germany on Monday, Nigeria’s U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup team, Falconets have vowed to win their next match against Haiti.
Some of the players told Prompt News Online via telephone this morning from France that they have forgotten about the loss to Germany in the first Group D match on Monday and have resolved to beat Haiti to pick the full three points that will hurl Nigeria back to contention.
Falconets defender, Joy Ndidi Duru believes that Nigeria has the talents to beat Haiti when both countries meet tomorrow in their second match in Saint-Malo.
According to her, “I am certain that we (Falconets) have all that is required to beat Haiti tomorrow (Thursday). We are not happy that we lost to Germany but that is in the past. Now we know what to do and is to win our next two matches to stay in the competition “.
The Nasarawa Amazons dependable defender revealed that the players have talked to themselves and have resolved to battle to the last sound of the referee’s whistle in the remaining matches in France.
Like Nigeria, Haiti lost their first match by 2-1 to China PR and will be desperately looking to upstage Nigeria when both teams meet tomorrow.
But the odds favour Nigeria if her past pedigree in the FIFA U 20 Women’s World Cup final is anything to reckon with. Nigeria has finished twice as runners up while Haiti is participating for the first time hence the African representatives is expected to win the match.
