Senior Government officials from Nigeria and Australia commenced Talks today 10th February, 2020 in Abuja to identify strategies to deepen bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Talks was led by the Director Regions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Mr. Nura Rimi and the First Assistant Secretary of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Dr. Angela McDonald PSM.
Other members of the delegation were the Nigeria High commissioner to Australia, Ambassador Bello Kazaure Husseini and his counterpart, the Australian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ambassador Claire Ireland.
Also participating in the Talks is the Director General of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Ambassador Ayo Olukanni who was former Nigerian High Commissioner in Australia.
The Talks is the third in the series and it will cover bilateral and multilateral issues such as economic, political, social cultural and security cooperations.
Other issues for discussion on the Agenda of the Talks include Mining, Trade &Investment, Education, sub-regional and regional security issues. Cooperation within the framework of United Nations Human Rights Council of which both countries are members will also be discussed.
