A board member of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau, has reiterated the commitment the board towards the development of Nationwide League, by ensuring financial support in carrying out its programme at the grassroot level.
Gusau made this known in Jos, Plateau State while on tour of the state in respect of NFF Covid-19 monitoring team.
“We are doing our best and we will continue to support NLO, it’s the federation baby so we can’t ignore it. That’s why we were there to render support for them we want them to grow and we must keep our tab on them”
Gusau, while appreciating the Plateau state government and people for the support they are giving to football in the state, further explained why the Nationwide has chosen to allow for a zonal league across 8 centres all over the country.
“It’s the first time we are test running a zonal league format for the lower league, and with what I have seen it’s a good project and with the insecurity situation in the country we cannot afford to risk the life of our young players. That is the reason we choose the format where the teams will converge at a venue and play against each other, and you must agree with me it has been one of the best experiment for our league”. he concluded.
The 8 zone will produce a winner each which will earn them a promotion to the National League.
