To ensure that every football stakeholder is kept abreast of his desire to create a viable football economy that will benefit stakeholders in Nigeria, the frontrunner in the forthcoming Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Elective Congress on September 30 in Benin City, Dr. Christian Emeruwa on Thursday visited Nigeria’s Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Chief Sunday Dare in his Abuja office.
The meeting saw Emeruwa officially informing the minister that he is the best man to succeed the outgoing President of NFF, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, pointing out that he has what it takes to turnaround the dwindling fortunes of Nigeria football both at the national and local levels.
Emeruwa who is the current Head of Safety and Security Department of Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) in Cairo, Egypt but who has decided to come on Rescue Mission to salvage what remains of the Nigerian local and international football, told the minister that he could not have bothered to throw his hat in the ring if he is not convinced that he has alot to offer Nigeria football.
Said he: “As an expert in Sports Administration and Management, having studied the course up to PhD level, working for international organisations; FIFA and CAF as well as serving under three past NFF General Secretaries, I believe I am well equipped to lead the federation at a time like this”.
“I, therefore, feel it is only wise to get the Honourable Minister of Sports and Youth Development of my country to buy into my Vision and Mission to create a viable football economy that will benefit stakeholders in Nigeria”.
In his response, an elated Sunday Dare commended Emeruwa for paying him a courtesy Call, pointing out that he is the first NFF Presidential Election aspirant to come to his office to officially inform him of his plans to contest for the post.
He also said he is very impressed with Emeruwa’s approach to the election campaign and the innovations he has brought into the contest which have changed the complexion of the election.
Dare also told his guest that he has been following the events leading up to the NFF Elective Congress in Benin City on September 30, promising that as the Minister of Sports he will ensure that the NFF allows all aspirants to test their popularity at the polls.
He therefore wished Emeruwa who has so far led other aspirants in the race to clinch the top position, success in the coming elections.
