The Assistant Director (Legal) of the Nigeria Football Federation, Barrister Okey Obi, has given more insight into Monday’s judgement by the Court of Appeal, Jos Division which determined the agitation by Chris Giwa and his group for leadership of the NFF.
On Monday, the court set aside the decision of the lower court (Federal High Court) to re-list the case and restore the orders struck out back in October 2014.
The court’s decision came on the same day that FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Secretary General Fatma Samoura visited PresidentMuhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, alongside Sports Minister Solomon Dalung and NFF President Amaju Pinnick.
On April 8, 2016, the Federal High Court, Jos had decided to restore the orders which Justice Allagoa of the same court had in October 2014 declared as having “ceased to have life.”
The NFF appealed against this decision, and the appeal was allowed on Monday. The court also awarded the sum of N50,000 as cost against the first and second respondents.
On Tuesday, Obi told thenff.com: “At the last adjourned date on Thursday, 21st July 2016, the court reserved final judgement for a later date. Then we received a message that judgement would be delivered on Monday, 25th July 2016.
“The judgement is clear cut. The NFF’s appeal against the re-listing of the case has been allowed, meaning the case is history.”
