In continuation of his policy of liaising with critical stakeholders in whom he intends to partner with to rejuvenate the development of football at all levels in Nigeria, Dr. Christian Emeruwa on Monday held a meeting with the Presidents of institutional sports bodies in Nigeria where he explained his strategic plans for football development in the country.
The crucial meeting which was called by the frontrunner in the forthcoming Nigeria Football Federation NFF presidential election (Dr.Emeruwa) was held via Zoom.
It was attended by Presidents of National University Games Association (NUGA), National Association of Colleges of Education Games (NACEGA), Nigeria Polytechnic Games Association (NIPOGA) and Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON).
The discussion was centered on the holistic football development in Nigeria from primary and secondary schools; Polytechnics, Colleges of Education and Universities levels which the aspirant said he has the capacity to champion being a professional in Sports Administration and Organisation.
Speaking to the attendees, Dr. Emeruwa stressed that: ” we can not develop football in Nigeria by closing our eyes from what is happening in the institutional sports, we are committed to partnering with these institutional sports bodies in order to grow and develop sportsmen that are well blended combining education and sports as we have seen in Nigeria in the past”.
“We intend to sustain the tempo and help to support these institutional sports at their various sports competitions with regards to football, specifically”, the Head, Safety and Security Department of CAF stated.
After laying bare his strategies to achieve his vision if elected the 44th President of NFF, the Presidents of of the nation’s higher institution sports bodies welcomed the ideas as canvassed by the Convener and noted that this is the first time in Nigeria that all the national sports bodies will be coming together to meet and discuss the way forward in a particular sport.
They commended Dr. Emeruwa for recognising the role of the youths and collegiate sports in football development and wished him success in the September 30
NFF election in Benin City, Edo state.
They also told him that they look forward to working with him as an elected NFF President to develop football in country upon his resumption in office on October 3, 2022 in Abuja.
