The Nigeria Football Federation has congratulated the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) on the successful conclusion to its triennial conference held in Ilorin, Kwara State on Wednesday and the swearing –in of a new executive council.
Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, NFF President Amaju Pinnick hailed the new council, saying the new SWAN president, Mr. Honour Sirawoo is a “mature, ebullient and dynamic individual who is capable of taking our beloved SWAN to wonderful heights.”
Pinnick added: “I know almost all the new executives in person, and I believe they are going to give SWAN a great image. These are energetic, focused and diligent professionals who have taken office at the right time.”
The NFF President praised the outgone council, led by the amiable Mr. Seidu Abubakar, while expressing confidence that the new council will work well with the present NFF administration “to achieve our vision of building a sustainable football culture for our great country.”
Mr. Umar Saheed is the deputy president. Mr. Olawale Alabi is the new Secretary General, with Mr. Wale Joseph as deputy Secretary-General. The vice presidents are Ado Salisu (north west), Edwin Bekom (south south), Adeboye Ajayi (south west) and Cajetan Nkwopara (south east), Mohammed DanMusa (north central) and Abubakar Sadiq (north east). The financial secretary is Chigozie Chukwuleta and Farouk Bello is treasurer.
