The newly appointed General Manager of Mighty Jets International FC of Jos, Ferdinand Mbum, assumed duty on Thursday with a promise to rebrand the club to meet global standard.
Mbum made the promise shortly after he took over from the acting General Manager and Club Secretary, Umar Kyari.
The general manager said that he had been given marching orders by Plateau Governor, Caleb Mutfwang to rebrand the club and ensure that Mighty Jets return to Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
“One of the things the governor wants is for Mighty Jets to return to Nigeria Professional Football League and we will do everything possible to achieve that vision.
“Another thing the governor wants is for Mighty Jets to have a female team as well as youth development teams (under 13, under 15 and under 17) which is quite different from the feeder team.
“We have already secured a ground where the youth teams, which will be for both male and female, will be training.
“Very soon, we will place advertisements in media outfits for parents to bring their children for registration.
“As matter of fact, the governor wants the soon to be constituted board to convert Mighty Jets from football club to a sports club”.
Mbum, who is a seasoned sports journalist, said that as sports club, Mighty Jets would be deeply involved in other sports like volleyball, hockey, badminton and a host of others.
The general manager said that the governor’s vision was to make maximum use of the abundant talents in the state.
He solicited the support of all and sundry to enable them to succeed in the assignment.
The club Assistant General Manager, Salisu Nakande, who also assumed duty on Thursday, thanked Gov. Mutfwang for finding them worthy for the assignment.
The former Nigerian International pledged to work closely with the general manager to take Mighty Jets to a new height that would be envy of other clubs.
Plateau Football Association Chairman, Sunday Longbap, in his remarks, promised to give the new management of the club the necessary support they need to succeed.
Longbap urged them to work assiduously and address some anomalies bedevilling the club. (NAN)
