Maj.-Gen. Jide Ogunlade has assumed duty as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division of Nigerian Army, Sokoto.
A statement signed by Lt. Audu Arigu, the Acting Deputy Director Public Relations of the Division on Friday, -said Ogulade assumed duty on July 31.
The new GOC was posted to the division in a recent redeployment of senior officers announced by the army headquarters in Abuja.
He takes over from Maj.-Gen. Hakeem Otiki.
Until his appointment, Ogunlade was the `Force Commander Operation Darin Daji, a Defence Headquarters-led operation to flush out bandits in Zamfara.
Arigu quoted the new GOC as thanking his predecessor for his role in the successes so far recorded in operations undertaken by the Division.
He also quoted him as charging personnel of the Division to remain resolute and committed to achieving the overall vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai.
“Buratai is committed to have a `professionally responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional roles,” Ogunlade said.
