The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has presented an ambulance to Marama General Hospital in Hawul Local Government Area of Borno.
Presenting the ambulance to the hospital on Monday in Maiduguri, the Managing Director of NEDC, Mr Mohammed Alkali, also announced a donation of N2 million for the fueling of the ambulance.
Alkali who said the ambulance was donated based on the demand of the Marama community, urged them to ensure proper utilisation of the vehicle.
The managing director said similar gesture had been extended to many hospitals in the region.
“We are here to officially handover a brand new ambulance to General Hospital Marama based on a demand-driven approach.
“This is not the first time the commission is giving out ambulances, as we have donated several ambulances to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Federal Neuro Psychiatric Hospital and many other health institutions in the region,” he said.
The managing director said the NEDC would continue to intervene in the area of health and other critical sectors in the sub region in line with its development master plan.
Responding on behalf of Marama community, the Principal Medical Officer of the hospital, Dr Emmanuel Ikechukwu, thanked NEDC for the intervention, saying it would enhance emergency medical response services by the hospital. (NAN). READ ALSO:
