By Gracious Akujobi Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has announced that a National Cricket League will begin by the second quarter of 2015.
President of NCF Emeka Onyeama, disclosed this to Prompt News in Abuja, assuring that the Federation will soon embark on the construction of a new Cricket pitch on a 23-hectare land space before the kick-off of the proposed league season.
Onyeama maintained that the Federation has witnessed turning point in the game of Cricket in Nigeria, which is evident as the current board has made Cricket a national game, adding that great opportunities abound in the game for teeming youths.
“We want to see that by the second quarter of next year, we will turn annual championships into a national league, we are planning a whole lot to make sure we improve both in the quality and quantity of the game in Nigeria.
“There is a robust partnership with the National Sports Commission, NSC led by its Chairman and Minister of Sports Tammy Danagogo as well as Director General Gbenga Elegbeleye. They have formed bedrock on what we are seeing today in the Federation”
The Cricket Boss however charged young Cricket players to key into the plan of the Federation and get serious with the game in other to harvest its dividends.
