Nasarawa United Football Club of Lafia have parted ways with their Technical Adviser, Bala Nikyu, by mutual consent.
Eche Amos, the club’s Media Officer, said in a statement that Nikyu’s departure was coming after his three straight seasons as head coach of the club.
“The former Head Coach’s exit from the Solid Miners followed the team’s extremely poor results in the ongoing 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season,” he said.
Amos said their separation was particularly after the 1-2 home loss to El-Kanemi Warriors FC of Maiduguri on the league’s Match Day 12 on Saturday at the New Jos Stadium.
He added that after the development, Nikyu had taken the opportunity to thank the club and their supporters for the opportunity given to him to serve.
”Nikyu described Nasarawa United as a big and amazing club with so much to offer.”
The Media Officer disclosed that the club management had subsequently confirmed Abubakar Arikya’a as their Acting Technical Adviser pending the appointment of a substantive Technical Adviser.
“Samson Marwa, Balarabe Ibrahim and Ibrahim Yahaya will work as his assistants,” he said.
Amos went on to note that this was certainly not the best time for them as a club in the league, but they felt it right to thank Nikyu for his wisdom to step down from his role.
“Yes, the results were not what we ever envisaged, but we hope this is the best for both parties, going forward.
“We have but six league matches remaining and we have a herculean task on our hands to stabilise our position in the league.”
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nasarawa United FC have struggled to replicate their form of previous seasons since the commencement of the 2022/2023 abridged season.
They are currently ninth in the 10-team Group A with eight points from two wins and two draws in 12 matches.(NAN)
