The Nasarawa State Government says it has set aside N2 billion for the rebuilding of all public schools recently destroyed by rainstorm in Doma Local Government Area of the state.
The Commissioner for Education in the state, Ahmed Tijjani, disclosed this while assessing the schools in Doma on Friday.
Tijani however said that the amount included the N150 million meant for the renovation of other schools in the 13 local government areas of the state.
He said that the rebuilding of the schools in Doma would include a parameter fence round each of the school premises to protect them against encroachment.
According to him, the ministry will ensure that the contractors do good jobs that will stand the test of time.
He said the principals of the affected schools had been directed to submit reports of the level of damage in their various schools to the ministry for prompt action.
The commissioner sympathised with the students and teachers of the affected schools and assured them that they would be fixed soon for normal academic activities to resume.
Henry Vanda, the Principal of Government Secondary School, Doma, expressed gratitude to the commissioner for the visit.
Vanda said six blocks of classroom and the examination hall in the school were completely destroyed by the rainstorm.
